Michael Joel, Artistic Director
Michael is a writer, director, actor, and producer based in New York and New Jersey and a co-founder of No Dominion Theatre Co. With them, he has produced, written, and directed One. Four. (Zero). at the Historic Solitude House in High Bridge, NJ, where he also produced and acted in No Dominion’s original piece Departure. Most recently, Michael directed the World Premiere production Rut by Chandy Bennett. In 2016, Michael and his creative partner Kaitlin Overton presented their original play Help me out here at the 2016 FRIGID NY Festival at UNDER St. Mark’s. Other writer/director credits include A River at Manhattan Repertory Theatre and Youth+Blood+Roses for the Venus Theatre Festival at The Robert Moss Theatre in New York. He also directed Peter Pan is Dead for the Thespis Festival at the Cabrini Repertory Theatre. Other directing credits include Our Town, Peter/Wendy (Assistant Director/Actor), The Triple Happiness (Actor/Director), The Glass Menagerie, Savage/Love (Director/Deviser), and Marat/Sade (Director). Michael has been a member of the how to write a letter residency at the Ko Festival of Performance in Amherst, MA and has presented a piece for the devised theatre competition at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.
Kaitlin Overton, Managing and Producing Director
Kaitlin is an actor, director, and producer based in Jersey City. She is a co-founder of No Dominion Theatre Co. with Michael Joel as well as the Grants Associate at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City. In 2016, Kaitlin co-starred in No Dominion's Help me out here as part of the 2016 FRIGID New York festival at UNDER St. Mark's, which she also co-wrote and directed with Michael Joel. Other recent works include No Dominion Theatre Co.'s Departure (Actor/Director/Producer, Solitude House, High Bridge, NJ); Richard Schechner’s Imagining O (Actor, World Premiere, Peak Performances, Montclair, NJ); Michael Joel’s A River (Actor, Manhattan Repertory Theatre’s Spring One Act Competition) and Youth+Blood+Roses (Actor, Venus/Adonis Theatre Festival, Robert Moss Theatre); Recommended Servings (Actor, The Earth Works Project, Blairstown, NJ); You Me Bum Bum Train (Actor, dir. Kate Bond, London, UK); and Uncivil Wars (Actor, dir. David Gordon, Peak Performances). Kaitlin has also interned with the critically acclaimed New York Neo-Futurists (Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind, The Kraine Theater). Directing credits include staged readings of The Pillowman by Martin McDonagh and Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard (Montclair State University), and a youth drama workshop of Anon(ymous) by Naomi Iizuka (Princeton Public Library). Chandy Bennett, Artistic Administrator
Chandy is an artist residing in Jersey City. She recently starred in her debut play Rut (World Premiere) at the Kraine Theater as part of the 2018 FRIGID Festival. Chandy has costume designed the European tour of HAIR das Musical, as well as The Blank Page: A New Musical at Luna Stage in West Orange, New Jersey. Previous credits with No Dominion Theatre Co. include One. Four. (Zero). and Departure (Actor, Solitude House, High Bridge, NJ), the Series Launch of Theatre in the Heights, and Peculiar Therapy, No Dominion’s inaugural H.A.T.C.H. (Helping Artists to Create Here) production, a one-night performance art event beginning with a highly personal walk-through art installation followed by an open artist showcase.
Carrie O'Dell, Dramaturg/Writer
Carrie holds an M.F.A. in Dramaturgy and a graduate certificate in Women’s Studies from SUNY Stony Brook, as well as a B.A. in Theatre from Rhodes College. She teaches in the First Year Writing Program at Montclair State University, where she also serves as co-chair of the Live Literature Committee. Dramaturgy credits include Departure (No Dominion Theatre Co.), Imagining O (East Coast Artists/Richard Schechner in Montclair State University’s Peak Performances Series), Three Sisters (HiveMind Theater), The Dybbuk (Elizabeth Swados at NYU/Tisch), O mnium Gatherum (SUNY Stony Brook), La Femme Est Morte (Shalimar Productions/NY Fringe), Video is an Endangered Species, and The Price of Gas (Young Playwrights, Inc.).
